950 Broadway Will Get Jazzed Up

One of the more recognizable buildings on the city’s East Side is getting a giant splash of public art. The Eckhardt Building, located at 950 Broadway is about to be the beneficiary of an enormous, although temporary, work of art. The installation is thanks to a partnership between the Albright Knox and Cedarland Development. This is just one of the buildings that will be getting a textile makeover by artist Amanda Browder, who has engaged the community via interactive workshops this summer.

Browder has said, “The idea is that it is similar to a rainbow—a happenstance encounter with something so awesome that you would tell more than one person about it—and that conversation, construction, and reinterpretation is just as unique as the piece.”

“We are honored to be apart of the art installation and the public art initiative set up by Albright Knox,” said Kayleigh Martin of Cedarland Development, currently in possession of 950 Broadway. “We believe the  Public Art Initiative is a great way to get the community involved.”
